My Idea of Adventure

Everyone has there opinion on adventures and everyone of them have there meanings. So is there a set definition of the word adventure? I think its only specific based on the person.

So what is my definition of an adventure? Well I have many ideas and thoughts on what it is.

There are two main ways I can describe an adventure. I think that an adventure is any mind set that a person has to accomplish a goal or reach some kind of personal achievement. Now do i mean beating a video game or finishing a giant sundae, no, not to me because that's not adventurous. I have many personal goals i would like to meet and have met. An adventure to me is also a "expedition" a trip of some sort that you have never been on or even attempted to try. This can be anything from hiking to jumping out of airplanes(depending on how risky you are feeling that day).

See one of my favorite things in life is to be adventurous, explore new things and achieve my personal goal. I love hiking, well not at a while back ago, but now I do. I have hiked to the top of a mountain, Black Rock Mountain in Mountain City, and have witnessed and gazed upon miles and miles of untouched land besides a few farms, but it was still an amazing sight. I have been here multiple times over the past two years and each time it is different, and more amazing than the first time. The best time i have went and seen this was on Thanksgiving break, last year. I went camping with some of my buddies and the sight we saw was amazing, you could see forever, even a small plane flying eye level to us. To me there is nothing better in the world than that brief moment standing on the edge of what feels like... the world. I felt a accomplished something amazing and something not many people will see because they stay at home in their comfort zone.

This wouldn't be adventurous to someone who well isn't really active or wanting to pursue something at all, because it takes work. Hard strenuous work. This would only feel adventurous to those who want to experience something amazing and accomplish something new in their normal lives. Not many people will get to see the beauty og this world because they wont simply get up, open there eyes, and... Look.

  1. I totally agree with your definition of what is an adventure. You are so right when you say that everyone has their own opinion on what an adventure is. Hiking would definitely be an adventure for me, because it could be alittle risky, plus it's something I have never done before. Camping would also be a great adventure for me, because I have never gone camping, but hope to go one day.

  2. So... you think 1 thing makes an experience "an adventure": it involves some kind of physical challenge resulting in the pursuit of a personal goal?

THere's a lot of contradiction in this blog entry. It says that trying new things is part of an adventure, and yet the example it cites is something the author's done many times....???

There's also a lot of potential here in this entry... I think the idea of an adventure *requiring* personal goal setting is great and UNIQUE! And I think that insisting on a physical challenge aspect of the experience is a good idea, too. Work with these!
